Mahasarakham University recently celebrated Ms. Piyaphatsara Kaeotinthaen, a second-year pharmacy student, for winning a nationwide logo design contest for “Moo Deng,” a pygmy hippo under the Zoological Park Organization of Thailand. Her design earned an overwhelming 57,520 votes from more than 100,000 participants, securing her the top spot and a prize of 10,000 baht.
Inspired by Moo Deng’s playful charm, Fern combined her love of art and design with her scientific studies, creating a circular logo featuring a chubby, pink-cheeked hippo. Despite her academic focus in pharmaceutical care, she used her free time to explore artistic pursuits, which she described as a stress-relieving hobby.
Fern’s work will now represent products related to Moo Deng, contributing to the branding efforts of the Zoological Park Organization. She hopes her story will inspire others to balance their passions with academic goals, highlighting the importance of pursuing creative outlets alongside demanding studies.
This achievement has further solidified Moo Deng’s place in the hearts of fans across the country, bringing attention to the pygmy hippo’s unique charm and the creative talents of Thailand’s youth.
