Clinical Pharmacy Research Unit (CPRU)

The Clinical Pharmacy Research Unit (CPRU) was informally established in 2016. Currently, CPRU has 26 members working as pharmacy lecturers and researchers. Members have expertise in the following research areas: pharmacokinetics, pharmacogenomics, pharmacotherapy, medication errors, home health care services, development/improvement of clinical pharmacy services, and development of educational IT tools to improve students’ learning.
Apart from the research areas mentioned above, we have focused more on the research areas to either serve or comply with the national health policy and agendas. These areas include:

  • Aging population
  • Rational drug-use system
  • Improvement of heath care services in the following areas: heart disease, cancer, mental health and psychiatry, primary care, district Health services, kidney disease, Non-communicable diseases, palliative care, Thai traditional and herbal medicines, and alternative medicines.
  • Advancing health information and technology
  • Health innovation and initiatives

Research collaborations

CPRU has aimed to bring health care stakeholders both nationally and internationally to share ideas to create real world research that can help to improve health care services and system for improving patients’ care and quality of life. One of the goals of the CPRU is to bring together national and international healthcare workers to do real world research that will improve healthcare systems and services and thus improve the care and quality of life for patients. This also facilitates strong evidence, disseminate best practice and advance health care services. The direction of the CPRU is to do research with strong evidence, determine best practices, and develop advanced clinical services.

Collaborations include:

  • Thai-US pharmacy consortium
  • Thai Association of Hospital Pharmacy
  • Tertiary care hospitals in the Northeast of Thailand: Mahasarakham, Roi-et, Khon Kaen, Kalasin, Surin, Burirum and Srisaket
